Spresso is a new sludgy rock project by Alpha Maid and Mica Levi. Alpha Maid is the project of experimental UK artist, guitarist and producer Leisha Thomas who craft compositions from lo-fi grunge and glitch electronics. Also a member of CURL collective, they released their debut EP, ‘Spy’ via their label in 2019. Their most recent release is second EP ‘CHUCKLE’ - an amalgamation of their signature style and neofolk, released in March 2021 via the collective and label C.A.N.V.A.S.
As one of the most inventive voices in contemporary music, Mica Levi's repertoire spans across various mediums, from orchestral compositions, band-formations to film scores. Known for their work as part of experimental DIY project ‘Good Sad Happy Bad’ (fka ‘Micachu and The Shapes’) and albums such as ‘Remain Calm’ with Oliver Coates, ‘Ruff Dog’ and ‘Blue Alibi’, Mica Levi has gone onto work extensively in film music where they scored movies such as ‘Under the Skin’, ‘Jackie’ and most recently for Jonathan Glazer’s ‘The Zone Of Interest’. They’re approach has received nominations for Academy Awards, BAFTAs as well as the soundtrack award for Cannes Film Festival in 2024.Â
In their live formation at Hyperreality Spresso will be joined by artist Zach Toppin on the drums.
